Metropolitan Museum of Design Detroit emphasizes the Design Industry to all ages.

VISION AND STRATEGY

Foundation Statements

-We were formed from a need and request from the community to highlight the Design Industry and the people who have contributed :Past, currently and what changes in design thinking can impact our future.

-We exist to spark interest, attract talent and offer a world-class option to live + work + play in the Design arena.

-We offer Design related intrigue to current and future generations.

-We will boost statewide and local community economic initiatives.

-We will provide local-to-global opportunities collaboratives and outreach in the Design Industry and related fields.

Our vision opens the boundaries of conventional museums.

MANDATE:

WHAT:

-Place-making destination + Magnet for Talent Hub + S.T.E.A.M.E.D.

-Edutainment + Interactive + Experiential +Social

-Exhibitions + Collections + Participatory Lecture, In-the round.

-Informational: 20% Historic, 60% Current, 20% Futuristic.

-Music and Sound Design Integration

-Technology Driven

-Digital Media including Film and Gaming

WHERE:

Detroit Michigan - Global connections.

WHEN:

2015: Launch

2016: Built founding councils, programming, global awareness,

2017: Permanent location research + funding commences.

2018 +: Collections launched on-line, Potential location areas Identified, programming continues, launch of community Design Think-Tank Labs starting in Fall.

2019: Fund-raise. 

HOW:

Currently continuing programming and seeking locations for temporary and permanent placements.

WHY:

-Embody local-to-global opportunities for Detroit

-Attract all demographics,youth-adult, inclusive to all.

- Involve and engage supporters + passion driven talent towards the Design Industry and related fields.

Detroit is Design, go-to!
